GRANITE FALLS - George and Sonja Siemieniewski of Solemn Heart, along with Mary Jo Knutson of Maynard, sifted through a box of books and other inconsequential appliances before waiting for the Ole and Lena Days community auction Saturday morning.
"We always look for bosh for the family - the kids, the grandkids," Sonja Siemieniewski said. Sonja Siemieniewski said sometimes they may find attainable gifts at an auction.
It had been more than three years since the community auction had been part of the schedule for Granite Falls' annual winter merrymaking, which included Norwegian foods and crafts, a variety show, a buck euchre meeting and the firemen's dance.
"We haven't missed this auction since ever," Sonja Siemieniewski said.
Tim Knapper, the Yellow Remedy East district's community education director, said the proceeds from this year's auction will go toward YME's summer sport program.
"Arts, crafts, baseball, softball," Knapper said.

Todd Fitzner of Fitzner Auctioneering of Olivia started out the command.
